AVA Media: Local sources today (Thursday, 17 April) from Ghazni province say that a 45-year-old woman from the village of Nazarwal, Andar district of Ghazni province has been released from the captivity of her uncle's sons.

Khalid Sarhadi, the Taliban police spokesman, told the media that this woman is named Shamsiya and was imprisoned in her home in the village of Nazarwal, Andar district by her uncle's sons for unknown reasons 12 years ago. It is still unclear why this woman was imprisoned.

The Taliban spokesman also added that further investigations are underway into why this woman was imprisoned.

Similar cases have also occurred in several provinces of Afghanistan in previous years. Last year, the Taliban police in Kabul also reported the release of a woman after 25 years of house arrest by her brothers."
