AVA Media: the Taliban’s ministry of public health has announced the start of national polio vaccination campaign this year.

This campaign started on Monday (April 30) in 31 province of the country and will continue for four days. And in three provinces (Ghor, Bamyan and Daikundi) had postponed due to rain and cold weather. More than 10 million and 72000 children are receiving polio vaccine in the country.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only countries where polio has not reached zero, and two positive cases of polio have been reported in Konar and Noristan province this year.

“We are working day and night and continue the health care service and polio vaccination campaign to achieve the goal which eliminating polio disease in the country,” said Dr. Qalandar Abaaud, the administrator of Taliban’s ministry of public health on the occasion of start of the campaign. “We are committed to eradicating polio in Afghanistan with the cooperation of our partner,” he added.
